GETZLAF SIGNS WITH RIDERS
REGINA – A familiar face is returning to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
620 CKRM has learned the Roughriders have signed veteran Canadian wide receiver Chris Getzlaf.
The move was confirmed by the football club on Sunday.
Getzlaf – a 34-year old Regina product – was released by the Edmonton Eskimos last month after originally signing with the Esks in 2016.
Getzlaf was drafted by Hamilton out of the U of R in 2007 but spent the next 10 seasons with his hometown Roughriders, winning two Grey Cups and being named the 2013 Grey Cup Most Outstanding Canadian.
The Riders have injuries at the Canadian receiver position including Nic Demski and Devon Bailey.
The Riders return to the practice field on Monday for the first time since Friday’s 33-32 home loss to Ottawa.
The 8-7 Riders visit Calgary Friday night.
