HARDING OUT INDEFINITELY

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding has a broken right foot, putting him out indefinitely.

The Wild announced Wednesday the injury was suffered in an off-ice incident. The team said Harding, a Regina product and former Regina Pat, was hurt Sunday but did not specify how.   A St. Paul newspaper reported Thursday the injury occurred during a dispute with a teammate.

Harding will not need surgery, but with training camp starting Friday and the opener Oct. 9 the Wild’s tenuous depth in the net is a concern.

Veteran Niklas Backstrom has returned after midsection injuries kept him out of action after January. But restricted free agent Darcy Kuemper has not yet been signed. Harding, who was unavailable after December due to complications from multiple sclerosis, was being counted on as a backup.

The Wild sent a Tweet saying the team has invited unrestricted free-agent Ilya Bryzgalov to training camp on a pro tryout.

another set back for Harding, like if the guy hasn't had to deal with enough already. Before he was forced to sit out last year he was only top 10 in every goalie stat there was

Latest news from a Minny beat writer is he broke his foot in an altercation with a teammate…and has been suspended indefinitely. Not the way I would have guessed he broke it!

Darcy Kuemper owes him a few beers out of the 2+ million he just got because of the incident!
