HAWKS TIE UP THE ANAVET CUP

The Anavet Cup series is tied once again, as the Nipawin Hawks had a crucial bounce-back effort in Wednesday night’s Game 4, as they ran out to a 3-0 lead and pulled away late for a 5-2 win, squaring the series at 2-2.

Brandan Arnold had another big effort offensively, scoring twice and setting up two others.  He now has points in all four Anavet games, for a total of five goals and 10 points.

Josh McDougall added a goal and an assist in the win.  Michael Grant and Brett Harasymuk added the others and Grant Baetsen added two assists.  Declan Hobbs stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced.

Defenseman Darby Gula scored both goals for Steinbach, just over three minutes apart in the second period, closing a 3-0 game to 3-2 before McDougall and Arnold restored the three goal lead before the second period was up.

The two teams will stay in Nipawin Thursday before Game 5 at The Cage on Friday.  The series will head back to Steinbach for at least a Game 6 on Monday.  Game 7 is Tuesday if need be.
