CALGARY, AB – Defenceman Travis Sanheim had three points, scoring twice and adding an assist, to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 5-1 win over the Regina Pats Sunday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

After a scoreless first period, the Hitmen offence tallied back-to-back powerplay goals less than four minutes apart to build a 2-0 lead before the mid-way mark of the second period.  The first came from Sanheim, the second from Pavel Karnaukhov while Sanheim added another goal at even strength before the end of the frame to extend the Calgary lead to 3-0 after 40 minutes.

In the third, Flames prospect Morgan Klimchuk put the Pats on the board before Radel Fazleev and Carsen Twarynski rounded out the scoring for the Hitmen.  Fazleev added an assist to finish the game with two points (1g, 1a) while Greg Chase also had a two-point outing with two assists.

Calgary outshot the Pats 30-20 with Evan Johnson making 19 saves to record the win.  Daniel Wapple made 25 saves in the loss.

When the Pats invert their specialty teams numbers the success will start coming. Until then…….mediocrity! We're used to that already. Oh God!

The talent is once again somewhat overrated. Just because it's young don't make it good. This team is not well constructed. Once again the PK is at or near the bottom of the league. Agree with previous poster. Special teams need to be better. On their two losses on this road trip the winning goals in each game were scored on the PP. Simply not good enough. They need to make a couple moves if they hope to do anything.

Give them some time. It's early, a lot of young players, and will take a few games to gel better. Getting back some injured players now so next ten games will give us a good idea where they stand. Still playing exciting hockey and a treat to watch.
