The Calgary Hitmen moved into sole possession of first place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference after defeating the Regina Pats 6-3 Tuesday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.  The Hitmen have now earned at least one point through 10-straight games and sit two points ahead of the Edmonton Oil Kings with a 22-7-2-3 record.

Greg Chase netted a pair of goals for Calgary, while Alex Roach, Jake Virtanen, Linden Penner and Ben Thomas also scored in the win.  Radel Fazleev contributed to the home-ice victory with three assists.

Connor Gay, Colby Williams and Adam Brooks scored for the visiting Pats as Hitmen goaltender Chris Driedger turned aside 25 of 28 shots to record his 14th win of the season and third win in as many starts.  The Pats outshot the Hitmen 28-25.  Regina split the goaltending duties with Dawson MacAuley starting, making 13 saves and Nick Schneider finishing, making six saves.

The Pats (18-14-4) are now fifth in the conference.  They are off until Saturday, December 28 when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Pats have been ravaged by injuries once again. It's a credit to the coaching staff that they have 40 points and only 5 behind the Broncos for 1st in the division, with two games in hand. The game last night was quite frankly awful in every respect. We got a little traction after Calgary stopped their motors. If ever there was a game where you could make excuses then this was the one.
