HUSKIES’ ADAM MACHERT ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AHEAD OF CFL DRAFT
Less than a week before the CFL’s Canadian College Draft, star U of S Huskies running back Adam Machert shockingly announced his retirement from football on Friday.
The two-time USports All-Canadian made the announcement on his Instagram account.
“The time has come for me to hang the cleats up,” Machert wrote. “This is a crazy moment for me as anyone who knows me or anything about me knows I live and breathe this sport. I’ll forever be grateful for all the teammates, coaches and support staff I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to spend time with.
I will be pulling [out] from the CFL draft as it would not be right for me to let a team waste a pick when I have no intention of playing.
Thank you to everyone who has cheered for me and supported me throughout my career. It’s been a hell of a ride.”
Reports have surfaced that Machert has a business opportunity which is his priority.
