HUSKIES GET PAST RAMS 11-10, THUNDER SWEEP HILLTOPS
The No. 6-ranked University of Regina Rams went toe-to-toe with No. 2 Saskatchewan on Saturday night in front of 7055 spectators at Mosaic Stadium, but the Huskies hit a 32-yard field goal with two seconds remaining to score an 11-10 road win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaxon Ford recovered the opening kickoff, then the Rams scored the game’s only touchdown on the very first play from scrimmage as Noah Pelletier went deep to D’Sean Mimbs from 29 yards out
- Saskatchewan got on the board with a chip-shot field goal late in the first quarter, and added two more points in the second quarter after a high snap on a punt forced Aldo Galvan to kick the ball out of the U of R’s end zone
- The Huskies took their first lead of the game with a minute left in the third quarter on a 38-yard David Solie field goal
- The Rams took the lead back on a 10-play, 94-yard drive which was highlighted by a Brayden Wagg shovel pass to Riley Boersma on a fake punt and capped off by a 19-yard Galvan field goal with 1:34 remaining
- Saskatchewan replied with a drive of its own, with a 15-yard Ryker Frank rush helping set the table for Solie’s game-winning 32-yard field goal
