ICE 3 PATS 1
CRANBROOK, B.C. (CP) – Jaedon Descheneau scored once and set up two more as Kootenay downed Regina 3-1 Saturday evening, earning the Pats a split of their two game Central Division mini-swing.
Jagger Dirk and Luke Philp also scored for the Ice (39-25-4) and Sam Reinhart had two assists.
The Pats (38-25-6) got their lone goal from Morgan Klimchuk.
Mackenzie Skapski made 27 saves for Kootenay while Regina’s Dawson MacAuley stopped 28-of-30 shots in defeat. The Pats were 0/6 on the powerplay and 3/5 on penalty kill while being outshot 31-28. The attendance was 2252.
The Pats have three games remaining and hold a three point lead over Swift Current for first place in the WHL’s East Division. Regina is home to Prince Albert Wednesday at 7:00 (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).
Another very good game to watch on WHL Live. Pats need to get their power play working for the playoffs although had Burroughs and Williams out of the lineup, who usually get some time on the PP. Five forward PP didn't seem to be in sync most of the time. Mcauley plated very good as did Ice Tender in the 3rd when he had to. If not for the skate save on Gay in dying seconds would have been OT. Will be watching next few from Phoenix.

We didn't do anything offensively for two periods but really came on in the third. We had 9 shots after two periods and 19 in the third. Didn't play a 60 minute game. You can't wait until the third to start putting out. Coulda woulda shoulda don't win ya games. MacAuley was pretty good and the bigger defence seemed… Read more »
Bill W. Thank you for founding AA. You saved my life. lol
my guess the pats will blow the lead atop the division swift current will win the division
Blow the lead atop the division? For a team that was picked to finish last, you don't exactly BLOW it if you happen to not win the division by a game or two. Holy frick. All of a sudden Regina has become the London Knights of hockey fans???? Give me a break. You have just witnessed Malcolm Cameron, Bill McGuigan, Josh Dixon, Morgan Klimchuk, Boston Leier, Colby WIllimans, Kyle Burroughs, Dyson Stevenson, Chandler Stephenson pull off a modern hockey miracle to even make the playoffs with the talent of this overall roster.
