INDIANS 8 RED SOX 3

The Eastern Division leading Swift Current Indians beat the visiting Regina Red Sox 8-3 Thursday night at Mitchell Field.
 
Brodie Cooper led Swift Current’s offensive output with a single and a home run. He also had three RBI.
 
Indian Starter Luke Wiechec’s picked up the win. He produced seven strikeouts while allowing just three earned runs, four hits and five walks over seven innings.
 
Brian Celsi, a senior from the University of California, who joined the Red Sox for the stretch run, racked up three RBIs on two hits including a homer. He also had a walk and scored a run.
 
Adam Prashad started the game but lasted 1.2 innings before being replaced by Chase Nister. The Regina born Nister took the loss, pitching six plus innings giving up four walks and five runs.
 
The 22-17 Red Sox, who now sit in third place in the Eastern Division, have a four win six loss record over the last 10 games.

Regina will try to snap a three game losing streak Friday night in Moose Jaw. They will return to Currie Field for an afternoon date with the Weyburn Beavers on Sunday. Game time is set for 2:05 pm.
