JAMIE HEWARD TO SILVER KNIGHTS
Multiple media reports are stating Jamie Heward is leaving the Vancouver Giants for the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights.
Heward, a Regina product, spent the past two seasons as an Assistant Coach with the WHL’s Giants. That included the team’s run to the WHL championship series in 2019. Prior to that, he spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Swift Current Broncos. In Swift Current, Heward won a ring with the 2019 WHL champion Broncos.
In Henderson, Heward will be reunited with new Silver Knights head coach Manny Viveiros. The pair was together in Swift Current.
The 49-year old Heward played 394 NHL games with the Lightnings, Kings, Capitals, Blue Jackets, Islanders, Predators and Maple Leafs. He was a first round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft after spending four seasons with his hometown Regina Pats.
