REGINA – Daniel Wapple stopped 39 shots as the Regina Pats edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 on Tuesday to pick up their first win of their second-round Western Hockey League playoff series.
Carter Hansen, Jared McAmmond and Jesse Gabrielle scored for the Pats, who trail the best-of-seven series 2-1.
The game was tied 1-1 after one and Regina led 3-2 after 40 minutes. Gabrielle’s goal was the winner at 5:08 of the second period.
Peter Quenneville, on a power play, and Stelio Mattheos supplied the Brandon offence.
Jordan Papirny made 28 saves in the losing effort.
The Pats were 0/1 on the powerplay and 2/3 killing penalties.
The attendance was 5236.
Tonight let’s Pack The Dome! As of 9:00 am Wednesday there were 4000 seats sold.
Regina hosts Game 4 on Wednesday at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Gritty effort and I think we'll get another one tonight. How Vetter can call a cheesy holding penalty against Smith, yet see Brooks pile driven from behind into the boards is an embarrassment to the WHL. The Brandon player had a hold of Smith's stick yet he get the penalty that cost a goal. Brooks is almost knocked out of the game and nothing called. Daniel Wappel is incredible. The Pats are giving it all they have. Great game last night. Paddock going ballistic on the bench is something to see. The Coaching staff has done a great job with these guys. Who is #3? How many shots did he block. I also like how the Pats are funning those Brandon guys and getting in their faces.
wow! what a game. What an enjoyable experience at the brandt centre. I had a great time start to finish. Obviously winning helps but the overall fan experience is head and shoulders above what it used to be!

Are you serious? The Pats are their only major consistent tenant. The Pats paid for the score clock in its entirety too. The owners of evraz place are the cheapest people around!
Just curious, what revenue did they lose? Did the Brandt Centre miss out on the 12th Hedley concert in 3 years?
Tons of tickets left on the Ticketmaster website. Hopefully Regina steps up and fills the Dome tonight.

Maybe the Pats should buy Evraz more fly paper for all the flies and more plastic garbage cans to trap all the water leaks from the ceiling. And how about the parking lot ? Will Evraz reimburse me for the wheel alignment I am going to need. Maybe they can borrow a grader from Brandt as the parking lot is a embarrassment.
