Legendary Saskatchewan Roughriders broadcaster John Lynch passed away Friday at age 86.

The Rouleau, SK product was nicknamed “Frenzy” by Leader Post columnist Bob Hughes. Lynch had a 45-year career covering the Riders, and rotated between colour commentary and play-by-play roles in the 1970’s and 80’s on CKCK Radio. He also hosted The Last Word Rider postgame show on CKCK, later served as an analyst on CKRM and co-hosted In The Huddle on Access Television.

John was inducted into the Rural Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 and was a voting member on the Plaza of Honour and Canadian Football Hall of Fame induction committees.

He truly was one in a million!

Sad to see Frenzy go. Very entertaining on the radio with a great voice.
