JOHN WHITE STAYS IN EDMONTON
(Edmonton) – The Edmonton Eskimos have re-signed free agent running back John White, keeping him in Green and Gold through 2017.
Entering his fourth season, White has spent his entire CFL career with the Eskimos. The former CFL All-Star has amassed 1,112 yards on 192 carries with three touchdowns. He added 268 yards on 24 receptions with three touchdowns. White sat out the 2015 season after sustaining a ruptured left Achilles tendon during training camp.
He originally signed with Edmonton as a free agent on May 9, 2013.
Prior to entering the league, White set school records at Utah for rushing yards per game (106.7) and career 100-yard games (14). He ranked sixth in school history in career rushing yards with 2,560, fourth all-time in career carries with 534 and tied for fourth in career rushing touchdowns with 23. White was the only running back in school history with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Prior to Utah, he set numerous records at L.A. Harbor College (2009-10) and was named Central West Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
My wish for 2016 is that ALL the CFL's starting quarterbacks remain healthy and play all 18 games. With the new rules and all teams getting better with talent, it should be a great season of Canadian football.
With Chambers coming to Rider Nation, it would now seem logical that the Eskimos will be calling the agent of one Chris Getzlaf.
Ted Laurent says a big No to Jones and Riders !!!!!
Chris Getzlaf?? Seriously?? Why do Rider fans think so highly of their own players? There's a chance NO ONE signs Getzlaf. Can't catch, can't run and injured all the time. Like seriously.
Rider fans should be excited for their offence as their receivers are now better than last year. Chiles and Chambers will both be 1000 yard guys in green.
Chiles might be the most "under the radar" signing of the day. No doubt this guy is better than Ryan Smith for sure and probably Dressler.
Laurent has not won a Grey Cup with Hamilton and neither has Fantuz. prior to coming to Hamilton he was mediocre d-lineman. He played up the hype to get big money from Hamilton. Good on him. He was likely never going anywhere but used his bargaining chips to rake in big money. You don't win a championship on the first day of free agency. Winnipeg over paid for everything yesterday like $175,000 for a kicker, even Austin wouldn't pay Medlock that much plus he needed the money for Laurent. Wpg still doesn't have a decent QB or a great defence.… Read more »
