KLIMCHUK CUT FROM WORLD J’S

TORONTO (CP) – Canada‘s world-junior roster is down to 25 players after five were cut Sunday evening.

Defencemen Chris Bigras and Travis Sanheim and forwards Morgan Klimchuk, Nick Baptiste and Remi Elie were the players released from selection camp.

Bigras, a Colorado Avalanche prospect who plays for the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack, was the biggest surprise because he was on last year’s team.

Coach Benoit Groulx said the eight defencemen Canada chose to keep were better than Bigras right now.

Among Sanheim, Klimchuk, Baptiste and Elie, none stood out during two exhibition games over the weekend against local university all-stars.

Canada’s main camp opens Monday at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ont.

Doesn't surprise me much that Klimchuk was cut, he is a very soft player who rarely finishes a check. He does have a full 200ft game but that's with using his stick not his body.

Expected that cut, but TSN's Bob McKenzie tweeted Sunday: "Another terrific outing for 5-foot-8, 160-pound Brayden Point (TB/Moose Jaw). Best player on the ice for Team CAN for 2nd consecutive day."

Gotta be tough for Morgan… but there is a lot of talent out there and if you don't fit a mold that the coaches need then you're on the outside lookin' in.

Now the question is will we see him back in a Pats uniform? Hopefully.

Sorry Pats fans, but it's time to deal Klimchuk and get some young bodies and more draft picks!

i fully agree with Larry on this one and throw in Burroughs as well as he is 1 of the best defensemen in the league this year and a right handed shot which adds to the value as a lot of the elite type Dmen are leftys
