LAPOLICE BACK TO THE BOMBERS

Paul LaPolice is heading back to Winnipeg.

The former Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach has been hired by the team as its new offensive co-ordinator.

The Blue Bombers tweeted a 19-second video Monday night depicting LaPolice and head coach Mike O’Shea signing a contract and shaking hands.

“Fire it up,” LaPolice says in the video after being introduced as the new offensive co-ordinator by O’Shea.

The 45-year-old LaPolice served as Winnipeg’s head coach from 2010 to 2012. He compiled a 16-28 record during that time.

He will replace Marcel Bellefeuille, whose contract was not renewed by the Bombers following the 2015 season.

LaPolice first broke into the CFL as a receivers coach with the Toronto Argonauts in 2000 before joining the Bombers as an offensive co-ordinator and quarterbacks, receivers and running backs coach two years later. He also worked as a receivers coach with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

LaPolice has worked as a CFL broadcaster since 2012.

Winnipeg finished fourth in the West division with a 5-13 record last season.

Great hire, great, great, good on them. Very astute move for the Bombers organization. Just fabulous!

The Blum Bloomers will need more than "The Police" to lead them anywhere next season.

Yes I've been a Rider fan for over 50 years and this hire will come back to bite the Riders big time. Up to 2 years ago Jones was never better than an assistant. There was another coach that won a GC in his 2nd year – where is he now. Jones will be gone and so will O'Day then who will the Riders go after. This was a stupid move – you never hire someone who is only in it for themselves and the Money. And to all you idiots who will try and jump all over this well… Read more »

Thanks again for your opinion Hopson. We know how badly you want to still have a say in the Riders organization but face it, you're out. Jones won't be putting up with your crap. And Reynolds will end up with a greater legacy as president than you. How do you like them apples?

Wish Rod you would require people to sign their name to comments. Stuff like this is not what Rider people should be lowering themselves to. Guys that say this and wouldn't sign their names to says more about them then the people they refer to. Calling people idiots has become common theme on this blog. Please administer get the board back to its former standards.

Here we go again, another stupid comment for our resident Hopson hater.

One can only wonder if Jim Hopson stole his girl friend when they were in highs school, or maybe its just a former disgruntled Rider employee, or maybe just another Loon from Stoon.

Yeah I'm a loon from Stoon, her name was June, right at high noon, promised her the moon, at the sand dune.

So glad that Winnipeg hired him, that means he will not end up in Regina, thank god.

Funny the story didn't mention LaPolice's previous experience as OC with the Riders in 2008 & 2009.
