LEIBEL FIELD SET TO HOST REGINA THUNDER

This weekend, the Regina Thunder will look to set the all-time attendance record for a game at Regina Minor Football’s (RMF) Leibel Field.

With their first ever game at Leibel Field the Regina Thunder are looking to make an impact on the scoreboard and in the record books.

The four-year old stadium, which has a seating capacity of 1200 people will be overflowing with fans and football players who will be descending upon Leibel this Saturday when the doors open at 5pm.

The seats will be full and so will the areas around the field where RMF teams will get a first class view of the
action by sitting on the grass berms surrounding the field, increasing the fields capacity by thousands.

Traditionally the Regina Thunder play at Mosaic Stadium like many other Regina based football clubs, but when the chance came to add another chapter in a close relationship with RMF, President of the Regina Thunder, Brin Werrett knew they had to make it happen.

“We’ve always wanted an opportunity to host the Winnipeg Rifles over Labour Day weekend with so many Winnipeg football fans in town, but given the CFL game and related events, we’ve always had limited access to Mosaic Stadium. Given the great facility they’ve built at Leibel Field and the strong relationship we have with RMF, we felt it was the right time to give it a try.” said Werrett. “We are expecting a really electric atmosphere. It will not only be the biggest game ever at Leibel Field, but one of the biggest crowds we’ve ever had for a Thunder game”

The Thunder will be taking on the Winnipeg Rifles with kick-off @7 PM and the event is expected to sell out. With rush seating, it will be a first come, first serve scenario with the doors opening at @5pm so make sure to get there early to secure your spot. Please note with limited parking, fans are encouraged to car pool, take public transit, or park off site and walk into Douglas Park.
