LEFEVOUR SIGNS WITH BUCS
Tampa Bay has added a fourth quarterback in the person of former Jacksonville Jaguar Dan LeFevour, a record-setting dual threat during his college days at Central Michigan.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will soon move into Phase Two of their offseason training program, which allows the team to move on from simple conditioning work and actually hold limited practices. When they do, they’ll have four quarterbacks to share the reps.
On Tuesday, the Buccaneers signed former Jaguars quarterback Dan LeFevour, who most recently played for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. LeFevour joins second-year starter Jameis Winston and reserves Mike Glennon and Ryan Griffin in the Buccaneers’ current stable of passers.
After starring at Central Michigan, LeFevour was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He actually spent his rookie season in Cincinnati, however, after the Bengals claimed him off waivers in early September. LeFevour served as the Bengals’ inactive third quarterback for the entire 2010 campaign, then spent time on the practice squads in Cincinnati and Indianapolis for the first half of 2011. In November, the Jaguars signed him off the Colts’ practice squad and he remained on the active roster in Jacksonville for the rest of the season.
LeFevour first went to Canada in 2012, spending three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger Cats and getting extensive playing time in 2014. He completed 101 of 149 passes for 1,276 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions and also ran 50 times for 314 yards and four additional scores.
A four-year starter at Central Michigan (2006-09), LeFevour threw for 12,905 yards and 102 touchdowns in 53 games, compiling a career passer rating of 142.9. The 6-3, 230-pound passer also did significant damage with his legs, rushing for 2,948 yards and 47 touchdowns. His combined 150 touchdowns (he also scored once on a reception) are a record for NCAA quarterbacks and he was twice named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year. For his final three years at CMU, LeFevour played under Offensive Coordinator Mike Bajakian, who is now Tampa Bay’s quarterbacks coach.
Hilarious!
Wutttt… ???? Didn't Sk give him a invite ?
His college coach found him a job he couldn't earn on his own.
It would be a major shock if he even is on the roster for a preseason game, nevermind make the team.
