LIKE US, WILLY SITS AND WAITS

WINNIPEG (CP) – Drew Willy is awaiting the results of contract talks between the league and the players as he prepares for his first job as a CFL starting quarterback.

Winnipeg’s rookie camp was starting Wednesday evening and Willy was looking forward to throwing his first passes as a Blue Bomber at Investors Group Field.

But the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players ends Thursday at midnight ET, and a possible strike looms before the start of main camp Sunday.

Willy said he backs the players 100 per cent in their dispute with the league.

Contract talks have resumed but if a strike is called, Willy said he expects to practice with players somewhere away from Investors Field.

He spent two seasons as a backup for Saskatchewan before joining the Bombers in a February trade.

Drew Willy would have looked damn good wearing a lime green jersey as the rrs starting QB, 2014. Too bad he had to get traded, BBs the benefactor.

Get traded?… He was a free agent dork!
Now he's going to be running for his life.
You honestly think At this point in time that
He's going to do any more than Jyles did right
After the Bombers signed him as a free agent.
Bombers are always after the Riders seconds.

Willy a starter over DD? Best fans in the world. No one said smartest I guess. I was in the stands the first time I ever heard fans boo our own guys … namely Ron Lancaster in his final Taylor Field game. Following week in his last game in Edmonton the Eskie fans gave him a standing ovation. Maybe best fans but we do have some with a bug in their cap.
