LIONS MOVE BANKS

The BC Lions Football Club announced this morning that defensive back Korey Banks has been traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for non-import receiver Kito Poblah.

Banks was originally acquired by the Lions in the 2006 Ottawa Renegades dispersal draft and appeared in 142 games over eight seasons for the Leos notching 27 interceptions, seven West Division All-Star selections and five All-Canadian nods.

“We’re grateful for Korey’s contributions to our club and we wish him the best in Winnipeg,” said VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono.

Poblah joins the Lions after three seasons in Winnipeg where he has appeared in 34 career games. The Montreal native and Central Michigan grad was a supplemental draft selection by the Bombers in 2011 with his best numbers coming in 2012 recording 41 receptions for 417 yards and a touchdown.

Wow, Buono just ravaged Miller in that trade.

Give up a starting calibre canadian receiver for a LB who is at the end of his career?

Maybe Buono included some Italian wine for Miller
and the executive so that they can look high and mighty while pretending to know what they’re doing.

Banks just fired out a tweet asking Burris to sign up with the Bombers. Interesting to see what happens next.

Moving Banks frees up money and a roster spot for them to go after Craig Butler who is now living in Vancouver……in my opinion reading my tea leaves there is little doubt that Butler is going to be with the Lions unfortunately and it will the first day of free agency. Taman already knows and is preparing us for it by telling us last week that Butler will "test free agency". But hey we have lost players before and will recover.

BC freed up money, and that is about all they got out of this. Poblah is a dud with a capital D. He will not last long in BC or anywhere for that matter. Wpg wins this trade because I'd guess they were going to release Poblah anyway.
Poblah looks like a football player, he is non-import, all good things but he just does not produce.
