LIONS SIGN BRIDGE, REILLY UNDERGOES SURGERY
The BC Lions Football Club announced Tuesday that quarterback Brandon Bridge has been signed by the team.
Bridge (6’5”, 235) has appeared in 67 regular season CFL games with Montreal and Saskatchewan since being drafted by the Alouettes in 2015 (fourth round, 31st overall).
After spending 15 games with Montreal in 2015 and the early part of the 2016 season, Bridge was signed by the ‘Riders as a free agent in July 2016 and dressed for 48 games over the next three seasons in Regina. He also started for the Green and White in last year’s Western Semi-Final versus Winnipeg.
The Toronto native signed with his hometown Argonauts this past offseason and ultimately re-joined the Alouettes as a free agent for four games earlier this season following his release by the Double Blue. For his career, Bridge has notched 2,485 passing yards and 13 majors on 211 completions over 322 attempts.
The strong-armed pivot garnered significant attention during the final two years of his college playing days at South Alabama throwing for 2,325 yards and 16 touchdowns over 20 games.
The next BC Lions home game is Friday, October 18 versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders presented by Tim Hortons and featuring a $150,000 guaranteed jackpot in the BC Lions 50/50 draw presented by Belairdirect.

VANCOUVER – None of the CFL’s nine opening-day starting quarterbacks will play every game this season.
The B.C. Lions say Mike Reilly underwent surgery for a broken left wrist on Sunday, meaning the only opening-day starting QB to play every game so far this year will be out for the rest of the season.
Reilly was hurt Saturday during the first quarter of loss in Edmonton against the Eskimos.
The Lions say the surgery included the insertion of a small plate held in place with six screws. Reilly is expected to make a full recovery in six to eight weeks.
Danny O’Brien replaced Reilly after the injury and will make his first start of the season on Friday against the visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Whether it’s economically feasible for B.C. to have a second QB that isn’t on a rookie salary is questionable. Starting QB Mike Reilly with his $750,000.00 contract has really quashed any idea of an experienced back up QB. Coming in for a couple games at the end of a season isn’t much of an opportunity for Brandon Bridge. It’s sounds like far more of a favour to the Lions GM. Who really hasn’t built up… Read more »
