LIONS SIGN BRYANT TURNER
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club today announced that international defensive lineman Bryant Turner Jr. has signed with the team for the 2016 season.
“Bryant is a veteran defensive tackle who brings a lot of skill, speed and experience to the line,” said GM and head coach Wally Buono. “He’s been an East Division and CFL All-Star in the past and he can play multiple positions, so he’ll bring both competition and depth to our defence for training camp.”
Turner spent the past five seasons (2011-’15) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers where he notched 89 tackles, 26 sacks and five forced fumbles over 71 regular season games at defensive tackle. He was a CFL All-Star in 2012 and picked up East Division honours in both 2012 and 2013.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Lions,” said Turner from his home in Alabama. “The coaching staff is what really impressed me and I have a ton of respect for guys like Solomon Elimimian and Adam Bighill. It will be great to play with those guys and do my part to help bring the defence up another notch and make a difference.”

the business of pro sport. Turner wasn't 'good enough' for the money he was making in winnipeg. the lions sign him to a more reasonable deal and all of the sudden he is an impact player again.
don't be fooled. turner was released because of his contract not because of the contracts of the other players that were signed. this was over a year in the making.
Anon 1- Nuh'un. Bombers went crazy in free agency and too late found out there's that little thing called the salary cap. So a couple of big contracts had to be dumped.
actually, turner was being actively shopped the season before because of his contract. while the issue may have been forced because of this off season it was a long time coming.
