LIONS SIGN EDEM
“Talented Canadian depth is absolutely critical when you are building your team and Mike is a skilled defender,” said Buono. “Like many teams, we were very interested in obtaining him in the CFL Draft back in 2013, so having an opportunity to sign Mike today as a seasoned defensive back is a great pick-up for our club.”
Edem was originally selected by the Montreal Alouettes with the third overall pick in the 2013 CFL Draft. He appeared in 35 games during his first two seasons with the Als notching 54 tackles, five sacks and four interceptions. The lofty numbers earned him an East Division All-Star nod in 2013 as well as Montreal’s nominee as Outstanding Canadian and Outstanding Rookie. He began the 2015 season with the Alouettes and appeared in four games before being traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in October where he played in an additional four games and two playoff tilts.

(Vancouver) BC Lions Football Club GM and head coach Wally Buono announced late this afternoon that veteran free agent defensive back Brandon Stewart has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Lions.
“Brandon is a very talented defensive back who brings a lot of experience to our secondary,” said Buono. “His size, his physical style of play and his ability to make big plays will make our defence better.”
Stewart, a nine-year veteran, spent the past two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats preceded by five years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and a short stint with the Calgary Stampeders. Over nine seasons and 108 games, the Seattle native has notched 240 defensive stops, 56 special teams tackles and 12 interceptions.
Ted Laurent has stayed with the Ti-Cats so now the other dominoes should fall quickly.
Chambers has announced his signing with the Riders.
Very quiet day in Stampederville. Maybe some Huffbombs ready to drop tomorrow?
