MACDOUGALL A RIDER

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today national free agent safety Keenan MacDougall has signed with the team. As per club policy, details of the contract were not released.

MacDougall (6’2 – 219) will join the Green and White for his fourth CFL season. The Saskatoon, SK native was originally selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the 3rd round (15th overall) of the 2012 Canadian Draft.

Through three seasons, the 24-year-old has 30 special teams tackles, eight defensive tackles and two fumble return touchdowns in 36 regular season games.

Last season, MacDougall, a University of Saskatchewan product, collected 18 special teams tackles in 17 regular season games. He added three more special teams tackles in two playoff games as the Stampeders won the 2014 Grey Cup.

Growing up in Sask, you have to know there is a definite rivalry between saskatoon and regina. With him playing for Calgary, I am sure that helped to feed these comments. Don't we all have 'nice' things to say about Calgary or Winnipeg and the people that live there?
I think it is horrible that this is the first thing 'journalists' want to quote to everyone, before he even gets a chance to speak himself.
He wants a job, he wants to be a Rider, we will open up and say 'come on in'.
Keep it classy Ridernation.

I read the article about him hating Regina. If he is confirmed a Rider he will have to eat a lot of crow. His first few Regina media interviews should be a hoot.

I wouldn't have this puke on our team. It would be wrong to bring him here. We want good players like the RAMS produce such as Heenan or Clark. Bad attitude and nothing like Shea Emerey and his attitude. Don't want or need him.

He's a kid and kids say stupid things all the time. Football is an emotional sport and he got himself fired up. The rivalry between Regina and Calgary is intense and he had some fun. We all lived through it, its just game talk and no one was damaged by it. Let's welcome him and let him do his job on the field. I'm pretty sure the first big play we're all gonna cheer so let's not worry about some locker room banter.
This kid just signed to Canada's greatest CFL franchise, lets welcome him into the family.

Agree – Welcome him – he is a Rider – and Remember, he CHOSE to sign in Saskatchewan…. he had other very good offers/options, but chose to play for Rider Nation …..

Clark was from the Thunder and Heenan from the Huskies. I played with Keenan in Stoon it's a rivalry and I'm sure that Calgary rivalry escalated it. He will play with his heart on his sleeve, this wouldn't be he first time someone talked sh*t about a team and ended up playing there later in their career.

Keenan just has to admit how much he like Regina's Pizza Pies and all will be forgiven.
