It didn’t take long for Dontrelle Inman to find a new home.
The former Toronto receiver, released by the Argos officially on Christmas eve to allow him to pursue NFL opportunities, has signed a futures contract with the San Diego Chargers, sources told Sportsnet.
The Chargers, getting set for the Denver Broncos in Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game, will not have Inman’s services for the remainder of the post-season because of the nature of the deal. CFL sources indicated Inman received a signing bonus from San Diego, which will give him a decent shot at auditioning for the NFL club, and not just being a camp body.
Inman had two productive CFL seasons. As a rookie, he caught 50 balls for 803 yards and five touchdowns during the Argos’ Grey Cup run. He had the same number of receptions last year, and added six touchdowns.
At only 24, Inman still has a decent shot to establish himself in the NFL, should he find the right situation. He originally signed in Jacksonville in 2011 after coming out of the University of Virginia, but didn’t stick with the Jaguars.
Hey Rod! I really enjoyed listening to the Sports cage when it was posted to your blog. I haven't seen it on here for a while, so I was wondering where I would go to find it to listen. You do great analysis and updates and I come here often for the latest on the Riders and sports in general. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot Steve! All podcasts are at http://www.sportscage.ca.
Meanwhile in Riderville the flood of NFL offers coming in…(add cricket chirping and tumbleweeds blowing in the wind down Main St in Riderville.)
Alex Hall worked out for the Giants this week and Sheets with the Colts so some guys are getting work outs.
