MAVERICKS 3 RED SOX 2
The Regina Red Sox Canada Day celebration was cut short with a 3-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Athletic Park.
The 2nd place Red Sox dropped to .500 and now sport a 12-12 record while Medicine Hat improved to 14-11.
Parks Smithey made his fifth start for the Red Sox and with the loss dropped his season record to 1-2.
Smithey faced 32 batters over 7.1 innings. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks while giving up 3 runs. Kendal Daniels and Jeremy Sylvester came on in relief to get the final 2 outs.
Offensively for the Red Sox, Bryson Shelton, hitting .294 coming into tonight’s game, went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Gabriel Montero was 1 for 2 with a walk and RBI.
The Red Sox are back on the diamond Thursday night as they try to end their 2 game losing streak in Swift Current.
