MCCRAY, SCHULTZ GOING INTO PLAZA
Today the Saskatchewan Roughrider Plaza of Honor Committee announced two new members will be inducted into the Plaza of Honor. This year Scott Schultz and Tim McCray will have their names forever etched into Saskatchewan Roughrider history.
McCray, a Tulane product, spent five seasons with the Green & White (1986-90) and was the MVP of the 1989 team which won the Grey Cup.
Schultz, a UND product from Moose Jaw, SK, spent nine seasons with the Riders (2001-2009) after being the #1 overall pick in the 2001 CFL draft. He was the starting nose tackle in the 2007 Grey Cup win and a two-time Most Outstanding Canadian for Saskatcewan.
As a result of being Saskatchewan’s most prestigious sporting dinner, the Plaza of Honor Dinner has contributed over $6 million to the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club.
The Plaza of Honor Dinner presented by SaskTel has inducted 118 individuals who have made major contributions to the proud tradition of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club. The club has also inducted the 1966, 1989 and 2007 Grey Cup championship teams.
The cairn honouring the Plaza of Honor Inductees is situated outside the main gates on the west side of Mosaic Stadium. The Plaza of Honor cairn is sponsored by SaskTel, SASK SPORT INC. and the City of Regina.
This year’s dinner is set for Friday, September 25that the Credit Union Eventplex – Evraz Place. Four seasons ago the Dinner was moved to the Eventplex in order to accommodate a much larger audience. The space allows patrons the opportunity comfortable mingle and meet friends and associates throughout the evening. Many changes are in the works for this year’s dinner. The committee is working diligently to renew this event in order to ensure it continues to be an exciting, memorable, and unique experience for everyone involved.
For information on tickets or corporate tables, contact the Saskatchewan Roughrider Ticket Office at 525-1281 or 1-888-474-3377 or any committee member.
Jim Hopson leaves, and Scott Schultz gets in. Nate Davis needs to induct him.
whats your point?
Hopson is overrated.
So is your opinion.
So McCray had one good season and he's in the plaza ?
Congrats to both individuals who left their own respective marks on the organization.
When does Roy Shivers get in?
I'm not sure what the point of the plaza is. As we learned last year it really isn't based on merit or skill, but instead a willingness to come to the dinner & help to sell tickets to their event
It's the riders anybody gets in as long as u scored a touchdown they ran out of good players years ago
So Omar Morgan gets picked last year but because he couldn't attend he lost his place in the plaza. If he was worthy to be picked last year then why wasn't he placed in there this year ? What a joke.
Buddy – no one can reach Omarr. NO ONE.
RP
What does it matter if anyone can reach Omarr or not??
If no one was able to reach George Reed, then he wouldn't be in the Plaza either?
The question isn't when does Shivers get in, it is why should Shivers get in!
NO THANKS!!
Haha – that's funny about Omar in this day and age. Can we start a find Omar campaign? Hope he's alright!
Thank God you're not running the Plaza.
At least if I was running the plaza I would have spelled 'HONOUR' the correct Canadaian way and not made up some lame story as to why it was spelled Honor after someone noticed.
Mr. Roy Shivers personally responsible for all present day rider success on and off the field of play. Do it right riderville plaza of honour, Induct Mr. Roy Shivers and Mr. Omarr Morgan Immediately.
Holy Crap!! I never noticed that Honour was spelled incorrectly. lol
hey anonymous .. ya, you may have spelt Honour correctly but you'd still be a loser. You can't even spell Canadian correctly .. I think your Gr.2 spelling teacher is looking for you …and you think you'd be able to run the Plaza better? hahaha .. what a clown!
If you're of the mindset that Roy Shivers deserves some sort of recognition in "the Plaza", I would infer that you probably advocate for medals for every child, not keeping score & everybody wins!
It's a fundraiser. Those honoured are celebrity guests like the sports celebrity dinner speakers. As long as the riders make money it doesn't matter whose in or out. Too bad about the international spelling.
2001-2009 Schultz had a great carrer on pretty good teams. Who was the GM during those years anyone remember?…
