MCMANUS RETURNS TO BOMBERS

Winnipeg Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters announced today that Danny McManus (Assistant General Manager, Director of U.S. Scouting) and Ted Goveia (Assistant General Manager, Director of Player Personnel) have been added to the football operations managerial staff and will oversee all aspects of the organization’s U.S. and Canadian scouting.

A Canadian Football Hall of Famer, McManus joins the Blue Bombers after spending the past three seasons as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Head U.S. Scout, managing all aspects of their U.S. scouting throughout both the offseason and regular season.  He also spent 2009 and 2010 as the Ti-Cats Southeast Regional Scout.

McManus joined the organization in 2008 as an offensive assistant before moving into the scouting department in 2009. The former Bomber quarterback played 17 seasons in the CFL, winning three Grey Cup’s. McManus spent three seasons with the Blue Bombers (1990-92) and played in 54 games, getting six starts, all of which he led the club to a win (6-0).  Over three seasons with Winnipeg, McManus threw for 3,084 yards and 16 TDs. Goveia comes aboard after spending the 2013 season with the Toronto Argonauts as Director, Player Personnel, overseeing scouting throughout both the United States and Canada, as well as the coordination of the CFL Canadian Draft.

Prior to that, Goveia had been responsible for recruitment strategies in both Canada and the U.S. for the Argos, scouting various NFL pre-season camps. He first joined the Argonauts in 2010 as an assistant coach, and prior to that spent 15 years in various coaching and recruitment capacities throughout the CIS and Canadian Junior Football ranks. The Blue Bombers also announce today that Drew Morris will continue with the organization in a more expanded role as a National Scout. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native has spent close to two seasons with the Blue Bombers and will see a more increased role in scouting moving forward. Prior to his tenure in Winnipeg, Morris was a scout for the Atlanta Falcons.
