MILES TO THE BOMBERS
“I’m extremely excited to come over to Winnipeg and work with such a strong group of defensive backs,” said Miles. “I really believe this group is one of the league’s best and with such athletic and versatile players in the secondary, I look forward to helping them grow and ultimately having our unit help us in being successful as a team.”
Miles brings with him 15 years of experience in the Canadian Football League, including 12 years as one of the league’s top defensive backs. Miles spent seven seasons with Montreal, before heading to B.C. for his final five years. A three-time Grey Cup Champion, Miles was a nine-time Division All-Star, and a CFL All-Star on six occasions. He is second all-time in CFL history with 66 interceptions.
“Barron brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization,” said Head Coach Mike O’Shea. “He was so good in our league for so long, he can relate to players very well, and that’s a great asset to have on your coaching staff. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
Prior to joining the Riders in 2012, he had spent the previous two seasons with the Lions as their Defensive and Player Personnel Assistant.
Miles won two Grey Cups as a player (2006, 2011) with the Lions, and one as a Defensive Backs Coach (2013) with the Riders.
What the hell is going on in the Riders Coaching ranks?? Chamblin picked his coaches, not Richie Hall. Why would we ever allow someone as good as baron Miles to defect to Winnipeg? After we purchased our 2013 team by cutting and slashing and hiding every possible way of going over the budget to get all the Vets and win the Grey Cup at home. We all started to see the real deal in Riders Management and Coaching. Last year was an absolute embarrassement as far as talking joseph out of Retirement and looking as bad as we did. The Riders… Read more »

Maybe Baron wanted to go with Richie!
How does one "purchase" a Grey Cup? The Voice of Reason is surely the Voice of Nonsense. Football games are won by players on the field with the team making the fewer errors winning, usually. Luck plays a role, especially in terms of injuries. But in the era of the salary cap, it is no longer possible, as it once was, to have million dollar personal contracts for players to accumulate the best players. No Mr. Voice, the Rider players and coaches won the Cup thanks in large part to the talent of the poorly paid Kory Sheets and the… Read more »
The voice of Old Hank is surely the Voice of "Oblivious" Nonsense.
I wonder what former Rider middle linebacker Baron Simpson is doing these days.
Any word on Neil Hugh's retirement?
More like voice of idiocy.
In 2013 when we so called "purchased a Grey Cup" we were only slightly over the salary cap. If there is some kind of magic in what we did that year why wouldn't we do that every year?
Answer: there was no magic or impropriety of any kind in what we did. Kory Sheets got us there and he set an all time record record for Grey Cup rushing. Supporting performances by Durant, Getzlaf, WD7, and Geroy(esp in the Grey Cup game itself). Great offensive and defensive line play made it all possible.
So biggest single factor was Sheets.
2012/13 a collective collusion to appease.
I just love this “Riders bought a Grey Cup” !!!! So much ignorance in this fan base. Let’s lay it out there….. 2011 was a joke.2012 was a re-building year for Taman and CC to clean up the mess left by Tillman, Miller and Marshall. This team did alright but was young and lacked leadership.2013 clearly we needed to add a few pieces to put us over the top so who we brought in a few guys to help.Dwight Anderson – said he left money on the table but chose to come to the Riders.Ricky Foley – same thing… said… Read more »
As an avid Rider fan even I know that we were not slightly over the cap in 2013. That's what we showed on paper but that wasnt the case. Without a lot of trickery the Riders would have been WAY over. Several HUGE salary's were defered to the 2014 season. Example… Geroy Simon. His front office role for 2014 saw a good chunk of his 2013 and of course all of his 2014 salary go towards the front office and not the cap. B.T. is a smart man and can minipulate the numbers with the best of them. There are… Read more »

I approve this articulate point blank message excluding B.T. is a smart man.
Dude, every GM in the league works the cap. You have to when injuries occur. But thanks for trolling along.
awesome. I wish I knew earlier.
Ok BT buy another cup. I'll get my ticket to PEG right now.
thanks
This kind of chatter is going to go on as long as Taman is there. He's the most polarizing GM in league history. You either like him or hate him.
"most polarizing GM in league history". What a laugh! "either like him or hate him" Have you ever met him or talked to him? I have not, so I can say that like everyone else I appreciate the effort he makes to build a winning team. Why would anyone "hate" someone who is a GM of a football team? The mentality behind such comments are baffling. Time to grow up and get a life. I can appreciate a Ti-Cat fan being upset that the Riders kicked their ass in the Grey Cup and therefore "not like" the Riders GM for… Read more »
The ones who count, the players, past and present, always speak highly of Taman. There just are a couple nutty fans who chatter here who can't get over the fact that he decided to hire Chamblin as coach and build a winning team culture here.
If we do win a second Grey Cup with a Taman built team you can bet that their polarized heads will explode.
Geroy 2013 counted against cap. But he signed a two tear deal so in 2014 we used him as an ambassador etc cause his wheels came off. The leadership he brought to win the cup in priceless so whatever we paid was worth it. And anyone that thinks we can cook the books is nuts….the amounts are audited we just dont make them up ourselves. Get real buddy. We managed the cap in 2013 because foley played for 80000 chick settled for 125000. Dd was still under old contract. Sheets played for 60000. We had a huge stable of young… Read more »
To about the last 4 comments trashing the polarizing poster. Sit in a coffee shop sometime and shut-up and listen. It's pretty close to 50/50 on your 'Golden Boy'
The Woz = Old Hank = the Voice of "Oblivious" Nonsense.
Does this guy in the coffee shop who says he is does not like Taman ever say why?
Does he hold the same dislike of Taman's partner in crime, O'Day? If not, why not?
Is he a Rider fan, or just some sour old negative Nelson?
Or is he just bitter about the Riders "buying" the Cup in 2013?
Does his friend tell him to get over it and move on because Taman and Chamblin are here to stay for the next few years?
lol, the coffee shop is where the learned people are discussing football now hey?
Is it not true that every year the riders won the cup or made it to the cup in the salary cap era every time they were over the cap what does that tell you they gotta cheat to make it or win it
