Monday Commentary: Always Fresh
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
Is it just me, or did that seem like a particularly wild weekend?
What’s generating the most buzz in my circles is the College Football shenanigans where postgame, onfield skirmishes and melees are costing some teams some money.
Last night Michigan and Ohio State were fined 100-thousand dollars each for their brawl in Columbus, which included pepper spray, and a cop being hospitalized, all because the Wolverines tried to plant their flag at midfield after a win in their rival’s stadium.
Boys being boys? Or a blight on the game?
That’s the debate.
Meanwhile wintery conditions marred the NFL Sunday Nighter in Buffalo where the Bills clinched a playoff spot with a 35-10 rout of San Francisco.
It was clear the offense had the advantage in the snow and ice, and at least the best team won.
But this lost 49ers season went from bad to worse when they lost workhorse running back Christian McCaffrey to a knee injury, thanks to the icy turf.
It’s not like Buffalo’s going to get a dome, nor are they going to move the season up so they just have to deal with it.
Fans and media love the bad weather games, but the players hate it.
On the hockey side, speaking of sliding, the Winnipeg Jets have lost four of five and now find themselves tied with Minnesota for #1 overall in the NHL.
I can just hear it now: “Here we go again” will be the cry out of Winnipeg this week.
As for us, we spent the weekend driving from South Florida to Nashville with an overnight stop in Atlanta. That included a nice tour of Mercedes Benz Stadium, where the Falcons were upset by the L.A. Chargers on Sunday.
The highlight? A Sunday morning stop at one of the three Tim Hortons in Atlanta, before hitting the highway for a week here in Music City.
Trying to keep life just like Tim Horton’s coffee … Always Fresh.
