MONDAY COMMENTARY: COULD BE WORSE

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)

By now you know the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes entered immortality by defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25-23 in overtime Sunday at Allegiant Stadium to claim the NFL championship.

It’s the third Super Bowl title for the combo of Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid and it came with its share of nailbiting moments.

The 49ers scored first in overtime, a field goal, meaning the Chiefs had to march the field and score a touchdown to win or, at the very least, kick a field goal to extend OT.

It’s exactly the scenario Mahomes relishes and he marched his team 75-yards, capping it with a 3-yard touchdown pass to seal the deal.

It’s the kind of game-winning drive we don’t ever see from Dak Prescott – the quarterback of my Dallas Cowboys – and a host of other big name, big money quarterbacks in the NFL. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen come to mind.

My Sunday was entirely taken up by hosting this year’s Sober Bowl Big Game Watch Party at the Clark County Amphitheater with special guests Earl Campbell, Leigh Steinberg, Brandon Mitchell, Five Finger Death Punch’s Chris Kael and a bunch of our newfound friends.

It was great! And what I’ll take away from it is when Earl Campbell grabbed the mic to tell his Recovery story, you could’ve heard a pin drop.

Some things are bigger than football.

And that’s it for another football season, save for the Chiefs Super Bowl parade and I’ll assume our TV screens and smartphones will be inundated with the latest Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news.

Could be worse.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 5 pm on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)

kelce, swift, plus the media made a incessant hullabaloo mockery of the 2024 Super Bowl. Turned the channel and watched Netflix Swap Shop, it was great.

Kelce has turned out to be the biggest baby in the NFL, overtaking Mahomes. His antics on the sideline like a child who doesnt get his way plus the way he treated the 49ers by by singing and ridiculing them is disgusting. His screaming at his coach on the sidelines gives us an insight into what TSwift is getting herself into. He showed extreme rage at the drop of a hat and you had better look out there Swiftie.

Very different dynamic. Reid needed Kelce in order to get his Super Bowl payday, so he is willing to put up with what amounts to elder abuse.

Taytay on the other hand could round up ten thousand of the world’s most eligible bachelors at the drop of a hat. The moment he fails to behave himself, Kelce gets kicked to the curb and immortalized in a song that is destined to head to number one on the charts making Ms Swift even more millions of dollars.
