MONDAY COMMENTARY – DON’T MISS IT
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
This is absolutely the time of year when the CFL shines.
Sunday’s Division Semifinals were a treat and I would hope that more Canadians watched the CFL playoff games than the NFL, if they don’t normally.
The Eastern affair ended up being a little lopsided with the Montreal Alouettes leading all the way and winning 28-17.
It’s gotta be some pretty sweet vindication for Als Coach & GM Danny Maciocia who faced a lot of heat – including from me – for firing Khari Jones early in the season.
Khari’s with Hamilton now, but clearly that didn’t matter in Sunday’s game.
More than anything I’m happy for my good friend Trevor Harris, the Montreal quarterback and member of the God Squad, and I’ll cheer for them next week against Toronto.
The Western Semifinal wasn’t that close either but it was somewhat shocking to watch the BC Lions manhandle the Calgary Stampeders the way they did in a 30-16 win, earning a trip to Winnipeg for the West Final next week.
Great job by TSN with their shot of Bo Levi Mitchell – a.k.a. Darth Vader – coming in off the sidelines to save the day in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Bo, Calgary’s defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed and now the Nathan Rourke “WestJet” story continues for at least another week.
And just so you know, Stamps coach Dave Dickenson is being torched here for not putting Bo in earlier. So he gets heat too.
Bo penned a farewell to Calgary after the game on his social media, so let the bidding begin there.
Like I said, this is the best time of year in the CFL.
Don’t miss it.

Rod…where do you feel Bo will be playing in 2023?
Do you still feel Lapo is going to be our OC?
