MONDAY COMMENTARY: SLOW DEATH

The Monday commentary is your go-to coming out of the weekend!

First off, let’s look at the National Football League. Here in Miami, winless Carolina jumped out to a 14-0 lead and Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard of Edmonton looked to have 100 yards by halftime.

But the Dolphins stormed back to win it 42-21, Chuba finished with 89 yards, and the Panthers fell to 0-6.

However I was struck by the state of Canadian football, whatwith Chuba starring for the Panthers and Vancouver’s Chase Claypool waiting for his chance on the Dolphins practice roster. Legit stars.

I’m calling it “Show Em Who’s Boss” Sunday, with flexes from the Bills, Raiders, Commanders and Ravens.

Now, if the Cowboys can just do the same on Monday Night Football.

Next, forget about all the weekend NHL action because the focus is tonight where Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks visit Toronto. Connor carries a 3-game point streak into the game while Leafs star Auston Matthews is looking to become the first NHL’er ever to open a season with three consecutive hattricks.

Sold yet?

And lastly, the Riders lost 26-19 at Calgary on Friday but still have a couple of toes left after shooting off the rest, the losers of six in a row.

If they beat Toronto at home this Saturday, they’re in. Or if Calgary loses their last two games, Sask is in. But they could be left waiting during a bye week, next week, to find out if they make the playoffs or not.

Talk about a slow death.
