MONDAY COMMENTARY: THIS IS AWESOME

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)

There are many people out there who say the Fall is the best time of the sports year.

Among my friends, I’d say nine out of 10 of them prefer Autumn on the sports calendar to any other season.

However I’m not one of them. I’ll take the Spring six days a week and twice on Sundays.

And that’s okay! I’m used to being the fish swimming up stream. The contrarian-thinker, if you will. In fact, I’ve made a career of it and it pays to stand out from the crowd.

But you also have to mean it, and I do.

These playoff chases in the NHL are off-the-charts and the playoff pairings are changing daily with just over a dozen games to go!

The Junior A playoff series are underway with Round 1 already half done. And the WHL Playoffs are set to begin this weekend.

They won’t for the Pats, unfortunately, who finished the season by brawling the Warriors in Moose Jaw Saturday night, losing 11-1.

You came here looking for a comment on it? Here it is: it was distasteful, no matter if the Warriors were running up the score.

Take your lumps, and come back better another day. It wasn’t a good look, in my opinion. Where was that spunk all year?

But back to Spring sports. How can you not be excited with Major League Baseball season about to start up – aside from the Shohei Ohtani scandal – another Jays campaign?

And whether you follow college basketball or not (I’m guessing you don’t), it’s hard not to get swept up in the hype that is March Madness.

Oh and speaking of being swept up … it’s the Season of Champions in curling too.

You can’t say nothing’s happen in football. The CFL Combine was this weekend and at NFL meetings going on at the same time, it sounds like they’ve basically decided to adopt the XFL-style kickoff as soon as this season!

I’m not trying to convince you of anything at all.

Just saying … that this is awesome.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

I had to look further into that mj/regina issue. Regina has no problem last year with Conor lighting up mj any and all chances. When I reviewed this. Mj didn’t take their top players out nor did they switch out their power plays Now somehow regina took issue with this? To the point the regina gm said the people on mj “owe” their jobs to him…… Let me remind Mr Miller of something. Last i checked Ripplinger has memorial cup rings from kamloops and Vancouver. My memory doesn’t have those teams ever taking the foot off the gas pedal…..and when… Read more »

I don’t often agree with this poster… I seen the pp were 8-0 for the warriors at one point so it looked like the pats were running around and the warriors just padded their stats if you wanna be that way. FAFO!! At any level of sport I believe and especially at this level the better teams also owe it to the rebuilding teams and integrity of the game to play their best and allow the rebuilding teams to help identify what pieces they have and how players respond in these situations. It’s not fun but the Pats management probably… Read more »

Can’t get excited about the Blue Jays, as they suffer from the same syndrome as the Riders:

Incompetent management right to the top.

Shapiro and Atkins traded away Morena (best prospect in the major leagues, and who’s going to catch with Jannsen hurt, Kirk?), Gurriel to the DiamondBacks, whom made it to the world series, and Hernandez to Seattle for Swanson. WWHHAAATT??

Won’t waste my time watching either of them this year………
