MONDAY COMMENTARY – TIME FOR AN EXORCISM?
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
TOUGH WEEKEND FOR SASKATCHEWAN FOOTBALL.
FIRST, THE U OF S HUSKIES LOST A TIGHT ONE IN THE VANIER CAP – 27-21 TO THE WESTERN MUSTANGS ON SATURDAY – AND THEN THE RIDERS FELL 21-17 TO THE BLUE BOMBERS IN WINNIPEG IN THE CFL WEST FINAL.
UGH.
IT WAS AN ICY TRACK IN BOTH CASES, BUT NOBODY’S USING THAT AS AN EXCUSE. IT WAS THE SAME CONDITIONS FOR EVERYBODY BUT ALL I’M SAYING IS THE SLIPPING AND SLIDING DIDN’T GIVE US A TRUE INDICATION OF THE QUALITY OF THE TEAMS.
HOWEVER MAYBE IF THEY PLAYED INDOORS, THE MUSTANGS AND BOMBERS STILL WOULD’VE WON.
BUT WINNIPEG ASSUREDLY DID THEIR BEST TO GIVE IT AWAY ON SUNDAY, LOSING THE TURNOVER BATTLE 6-2 TO THE RIDERS! FRANKLY IT’S INEXCUSABLE THAT THE RIDERS COULD BE THE BENEFACTORS OF SO MANY GIVEAWAYS, AND STILL LOSE.
BUT THAT’S WHERE I SAID THE BOMBERS ARE THE BETTER TEAM. THEY DOMINATED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, MAULED CODY FAJARDO, AND RECORDED ENOUGH BIG PLAYS TO OVERCOME THE INTERCEPTIONS AND FUMBLES, AND ADVANCE TO THE GREY CUP.
FAJARDO SAID AFTER THE GAME HE WAS PROUD OF THEIR EFFORT, AND HAPPY THAT THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO WIN IT ON A GAME-ENDING DRIVE. THEY EVEN GOT SOME HELP FROM THE VIDEO REPLAY BOOTH. BUT IT WASN’T TO BE.
RIDER D-LINEMAN MICAH JOHNSON BLAMED THE FOOTBALL GODS FOR THE LOSS WHICH WOULD MAKE IT AT LEAST TWO STRAIGHT YEARS THOSE SAME GODS TURNED THEIR BACK ON THE RIDERS IN THE PLAYOFFS.
MAYBE THEY NEED TO PERFORM AN EXCORCISM? (Exorcism from Greek ἐξορκισμός, exorkismós, “binding by oath” is the religious or spiritual practice of evicting demons, jinns, or other spiritual entities from a person, or an area, that is believed to be possessed.)
REGARDLESS, WINNIPEG’S ON THE WAY TO HAMILTON FOR A GREY CUP REMATCH AND REMATCHES ARE ALWAYS FUN. WE’VE GOT A WEEK TO TALK ABOUT IT.
BUT AS WE BEGIN GREY CUP WEEK, I’LL MAKE THIS PREDICTION;
BOMBERS BY 7.

So do u think 34 year old running back with a bad knee has that much energy naturally ?
I do not think an exorcism is required. That works for people not rooted in reality and it is how people get ripped off by trusting horoscopes and tarrot card readers. The bottom line is they were given ball back for 6 additional plays – 6. That could have equated to a maximum 42 points had they capitalized and not gone for 2 point converts. Duke Williams was unguarded right on the corner. I have a hard time believing he ran the wrong route, but he was missed wide open with a shoddy pass. When he missed that throw I… Read more »
It was an exciting game for Rider fans!! Great year as well!! As a life time Rider fan I know there is always next year to look forward to. I am just so happy that we got to watch CFL again after not having any football due to pandemic. The CFL survived and lives on. That makes me very happy as did beating Calgary in semifinals. That was my Grey Cup!!
I still can’t believe the replay booth, I’m embarrassed for them. The better team one! Everyone knows you win playoff football up front and we got dominated. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe we didn’t score a damn point in the 4 th quarter in all 3 loses to the Bombers
Ofrensive line is the problem . We need to shore thst up in offseason and maybe bring in an experienced back up quarterback. Fajardo is fine. Any quarterback will struggle If you have a Len offensive line that can’t block . Offensive line did well first half but 2nd half they sucked
If the Saskatchewan Roughriders are going to start evicting via a exorcism someone needs to start with that ridiculous Board of Directors and then proceed down the line until the house is totally cleared out. It’s highly apparent that bloated business model is not succeeding.
