Well … here we go!

The Edmonton Oilers eliminated the Dallas Stars Sunday night and have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.

Their opponent? The Florida Panthers.

My childhood team against my current team!

I always knew the hockey gods existed.

Now it’s going to be a lonnnnnng week of anticipation leading up to Saturday’s Game 1 in Sunrise.

And no, I won’t be at the games in Florida. I’m debating whether or not I’ll be at the games in Edmonton!

This summer I’m the Voice of the Moose Jaw Miller Express of the WCBL and that’s where my priority lies.

They committed to me with this opportunity so I, in turn, am committed to them.

Shoot – we had the annual Meet The Millers event at a nightclub in the Band City Sunday night and I fell in love with those guys! Particularly Millers slugger Bobby “Biceps” Pokorney who, as it turns out, hails from neighbouring community Margate, Florida.

But you never know how things turn out. I may end up at a game or two, but that really doesn’t matter anyway.

It’s all about the series and honestly, who saw this one coming?

The Panthers did. They vowed to get back to the Final after losing the Stanley Cup in five games to Vegas last year and this is just one more rung on the ladder.

The Oilers? They’ve been knocking on the door the past couple of seasons, and want it badly too.

But I don’t think quite as badly as the Panthers.

A prediction? Meh, we’ve got all week to peruse the notes, analytics and such before the pick will come in.

But I can tell you right now … I’m cheering for the Panthers.
