MONDAY COMMENTARY – Y.O.L.O.

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

IT’S THE BIGGEST THING IN SPORTS, AND IT IS UPON US.

SUPER BOWL 56 IN LOS ANGELES IN TWO WEEKS WILL FEATURE THE HOST L.A. RAMS VERSUS THE UPSTART CINCINNATI BENGALS.

IN SOME INCREDIBLY DRAMATIC CONFERENCE FINALS ON SUNDAY, THE BENGALS ERASED AN 18-POINT DEFICIT TO UPSET THE HEAVILY FAVOURED KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 27-24 IN OVERTIME AT ARROWHEAD STADIUM.

IN THE LATE GAME, THE RAMS ALSO HAD TO POST A COMEBACK TO KNOCK OFF THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 20-17 TO AVOID A SEASON SWEEP, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY TO BECOME THE SECOND TEAM IN AS MANY YEARS TO PLAY IN SUPER BOWL IN THEIR OWN STADIUM.

OF COURSE, THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS WERE THE OTHER, AND THE TOM BRADY NEWS OVER THE WEEKEND THREATENED TO OVERSHADOW SUNDAY’S CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.

ESPN’S ADAM SCHEFTER REPORTED SATURDAY BRADY WAS SET TO RETIRE AFTER 22 SEASONS AND FOR A MOMENT THAT DID OVERSHADOW THIS WEEKEND’S GAMES.

HOWEVER BRADY QUICKLY LET IT BE KNOWN THAT HE HASN’T MADE HIS MIND UP YET, AND EVERYONE’S FOCUS QUICKLY WENT BACK TO THE BENGALS, CHIEFS, 49ERS AND RAMS.

BUT I’M SURE THE TOPIC WILL COME UP AGAIN BETWEEN NOW AND THE NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON FEBRUARY 13.

IF ALL GOES ACCORDING TO PLAN, THE ROD PEDERSEN SHOW WILL BE IN LOS ANGELES TO BROADCAST LIVE SHOWS LEADING UP TO THE BIG GAME.

WE’RE WORKING OUT SOME LAST MINUTE DETAILS BUT THINGS ARE LOOKING UP. GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BUCKET LIST ITEM FOR ME, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THERE’S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT.

YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. BUT IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, ONCE IS ENOUGH.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY
