MONDAY COMMENTARY – YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK?

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

WHAT A WEEKEND!

TO RECAP, THE ROUGHRIDERS STARTED SLOW BUT FINISHED FAST AND WOUND UP DESTROYING THE MONTREAL ALOUETTES 41-20 AT MOSAIC STADIUM.

FOR THE MOMENT, THE RIDERS STAND IN FIRST-PLACE IN THE CFL WEST AT 3-1 DEPENDING ON HOW TONIGHT’S WINNIPEG/TORONTO JULY 4TH CLASH GOES AT BMO FIELD.

RIDER QUARTERBACK CODY FAJARDO AGAIN ANSWERED HIS CRITICS WITH 224 YARDS PASSING, TWO TOUCHDOWNS AND A RUSHING SCORE LEAVING US TO WONDER WHAT HE HAS TO DO TO GET ALL OF RIDER NATION ON HIS SIDE?

FRANKLY I THINK THE VAST MAJORITY OF RIDER FANS LOVE HIM AND WE ONLY HEAR FROM THE NEGATIVE NINCOMPOOPS.

PLEASE KEEP ANY NEGATIVE FAJARDO HYPE TO YOURSELF BECAUSE HE DESERVES BETTER AND WOULD DIE ON THE FIELD TO WIN FOR THIS FRANCHISE.

I HAVE NO TIME FOR IT.

MEANWHILE SUNDAY NIGHT IN PRIME TIME, COREY CHAMBLIN’S BIRMINGHAM STALLIONS WERE WINNING THE INAUGURAL USFL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A 33-30 WIN OVER THE PHILADELPHIA STARS IN CANTON, OHIO.

COREY CHAMBLIN SHOULD – I WOULD THINK – GET INTO THE PLAZA OF HONOUR FOR LEADING THE 2013 ROUGHRIDERS TO THE GREY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP.

NO MATTER WHAT, HE’S ON THE MOUNT RUSHMORE OF RIDER HEAD COACHES AND THAT’S SOMETHING YOU CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY.

AND LASTLY THE WINNIPEG JETS NAMED RICK BOWNESS AS THEIR NEW HEAD COACH ON SUNDAY AND INITIALLY IT’S GETTING THE THUMBS-DOWN FROM JETS FANS.

THE BIGGEST REASON FOR THAT IS THAT HE’S NOT BARRY TROTZ.

OF COURSE I RECALL WHEN BOWNESS ORIGINALLY TOOK OVER THE JETS IN THE LATE 80’S WITH LITTLE SUCCESS. I ALSO KNOW HE WAS THE FIRST-EVER COACH OF THE OTTAWA SENATORS AND THEY FINISHED DEAD-LAST EACH SEASON HE WAS IN CHARGE.

I ALSO KNOW HE TOOK THE DALLAS STARS TO THE STANLEY CUP FINAL AND HE WAS A CAREER ASSISTANT COACH OF OVER A THOUSAND GAMES IN BETWEEN. I’D THINK HE LEARNED A BIT ALONG THE WAY.

WITH A GOOD TEAM, RICK BOWNESS CAN HAVE SUCCESS. I’M AT LEAST WILLING TO GIVE THIS A CHANCE BECAUSE KEVIN CHEVELDAYOFF HAS A TRACK RECORD OF KNOWING WHAT HE’S DOING.

AND WHO SAYS YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK?

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

Well you can go back provided there is a purpose. There is no “past”. It’s basically a series of “Now” using information and making decisions thought to be best at the time or simply to self loathe or sabatoge. Once we learn to be enough for ourselves and that we alone are responsible for all of our needs; the “past” is a useful learning device. I like Rick Bowness. He is a legit hockey man. Having said that with Winnipeg bringing him on it’s like these guys who go back to hook up with their high school girlfriend and she’s… Read more »

Hawkins, what the heck are you talking about. Are you on something?? Your post is nothing more than gibberish or someone who is trying to convince others he is intelligent. Answer – you didnt succeed.

Happy for Cody. He’s struggled for awhile now, hopefully this game is the first of many good performances.

I’m at least willing to give this a chance because Kevin Cheveldayoff has a track of knowing what he’s doing. NOT!

Big fan of Fajardo. He fits our team. Just need a stronger Oline to give him a bit more time. Its the Oline that needs to improve, they are adequate a best.
