MONDAY RUNDOWN: A BIG FOOTBALL DAY

We kicked off a brand new week with Episode #681 of The RP Show live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) AFC Division games; Chiefs over the Bills & Bengals over the Titans, 2) NFC Divisional games; 49ers over the Packers and Rams over the Bucs, 3) A preview of the Conference title games, 4) Sunday in the NHL and a tribute to Clark Gillies, 5) Will Duron Carter return to the CFL with Edmonton?, and 6) The ECHL suspends Jacob Panetta for an alleged racial taunt.
  • There was a great deal of discussion and debate over the NFL’s overtime rule. RP feels it doesn’t need to change while Moose feels it should, and will. The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should the NFL change its OT rules? At press time over 80% of respondents said yes.
  • Alouettes Special Teams Coordinator and SkySports NFL analyst Jeff Reinebold joined the show from Europe to recap the weekend. He had the 49ers picked to upset the Packers, and was happy that L.A. quarterback Matthew Stafford rose to the moment. Regarding overtime rules, Reinebold feels the CFL’s are the best.
  • 10-year CFL’er and Western Mustangs Hall of Famer Mike Abou-Mechrek joined the show to talk about the weekend games and felt the NFL could have one OT rule for the regular season and another for the playoffs (the NHL does). The majority of the segment was spent on this topic. Regarding the CFL off-season, Abou said he doesn’t favour 1-year contracts and hopes they’re going away. RP said they won’t, because it’s what the players want.
  • Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Abou. Friday’s winner was Danny Austin.
  • See you Tuesday at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive!
