MONDAY RUNDOWN: A GREAT CFL & NFL DAY, PLUS NHL PRESEASON ANALYSIS

Monday’s Episode #854 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – was a very special show. Some old and new friends joined us at The Beach House in Pompano Beach, FL for some good ol’ fashioned sports talk and analysis. Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked off the show with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The biggest games in Week 4 of the NFL including the Cowboys, Titans, Falcons all winning and the Buccaneers falling at home in prime time, 2) The latest on the Tua Tagovailoa concussion controversy, 3) CFL Week 17 recap: WPG 31-SK 13, BC 34-OTT 19, MTL 25-EDM 18 and CGY 29-TOR 2, 4) Paul LaPolice is fired in Ottawa. What’s next for LaPo?, 5) Monday Night Football preview: LA Rams at San Francisco (-1.5), and 6) NHL preseason weekend recap along with WHL and Canada West Football.
  • Eight-year CFL veteran Andrew Nowacki (Edmonton, WR, 2004-2011) joined the show for a lengthy, and entertaining chat. The Stony Creek, ON product makes his home in Pompano Beach and is a successful real estate agent. Andrew recapped his career and said the two highlights were the 2005 Grey Cup victory and witnessing teammate Jason Tucker’s return from a potentially career-ending neck injury. Nowacki answered several viewer questions, analyzed this year’s CFL, and said he hopes to come back again soon!

  • NFL & CFL veteran coach and personnel man Mike Kelly (Philadelphia, Washington, Edmonton & Winnipeg) joined us live at the Beach House and covered ALL things football. Kelly talked about being the Bombers offensive coordinator when Matt Dunigan set a CFL record for passing yards in a game with 713. Mike said the 1993 Bombers were the best team NOT to win a Grey Cup. He discussed his famous brushes with the Winnipeg media, reluctantly analyzed the Roughriders (saying something appears to be wrong with them) and gave his thoughts on the Tua concussion scandal.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is the NFL’s top team through four weeks – Buffalo, Kansas City or other? At press time the Bills were leading.
  • NHL great and Bet Regal NHL ambassador Bernie Nicholls joined the show via video chat from Toronto to discuss the NHL preseason and look ahead to the regular year. Bernie feels the preseason is tedious, especially for the veterans, and is all about analyzing young players. He feels the Colorado Avalanche remain the team to beat and said Leafs GM Kyle Dubas should’ve been given a contract extension.
  • Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Wacey Rabbit. Monday’s was Mike Kelly!
