MONDAY RUNDOWN: BARNABY, SPORTS TALK WITH JOCK AND MORE
Sports talk is hot right now and we recapped a busy weekend on Monday’s Episode #962 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – live from the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked the proceedings off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Weekend NHL leftovers, 2) Bedard Mania is out of control, the odds for NHL teams to draft Bedard #1, and the Pats 4-2 win at Saskatoon on Sunday, 3) The USA will look to defend its World Baseball Classic title Tuesday night, 4) More NFL free agency moves, 5) March Madness, and 6) PGA and LIV results from the weekend.
- Famed Calgary sportscaster Jock “Sports Talk With Jock” Wilson joined us at the Stage Bar to discuss all these items and preview Monday night’s Flames/Kings game in Los Angeles. Jock figures if the Flames miss the playoffs, someone should lose their job and said he’s not as big of a Sutter fan as Rod is. Wilson would love for the Flames to get their hands on Connor Bedard but knows that won’t happen. As long as it’s not the Oilers, he’s happy! Jock is the Stampeders pre- and postgame radio host and feels the Stamps will be in tough in the CFL West this season. It was an hour long visit with Jocko.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will make the playoffs in the NHL Western Conference this year – Calgary or Winnipeg? At press time, 70% voted for the Jets.
- Legendary NHL super pest Matthew Barnaby joined the show from his Ottawa home and said he could see Dallas, Colorado, Boston and Tampa Bay making the Final Four in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Barney promoted his book Unfiltered and told many hilarious stories including the time he and Sabres coach Lindy Ruff almost got into a parking lot scrap! Matthew was playing for Buffalo at the time. The book is available now on Amazon and in all bookstores.
