MONDAY RUNDOWN: CFL WEEK 1 BUZZ AND STANLEY CUP PREVIEW

We welcomed more sports greats to break down the latest in sports on Monday’s Episode #777 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Read on for the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont kicked the show off covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Stanley Cup Final opens Wednesday with Tampa Bay at Colorado for Game 1 (plus the latest on Barry Trotz and junior hockey updates), 2) CFL Week 1 buzz, 3) LPGA and PGA weekend results, 4) The Blue Jays rout Detroit 6-0, 5) Game 5 of the NBA Finals goes Monday with Boston at Golden State, and 6) Formula 1, NLL and CEBL weekend results.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who are you cheering for in the Stanley Cup Final? At press time over 60% of respondents opted for Colorado.
• BetRegal NHL Ambassador Bernie Nicholls joined the show from Toronto for a Stanley Cup Final preview. The Kings & Rangers great gave the edge to Tampa Bay in goaltending, defence and coaching while Colorado gets Bernie’s nod for the best forwards. Broadway Bernie also explained that he got involved with BetRegal since he’s good friends with the company’s owner, and recruited Damon Allen and Matt Dunigan as CFL Ambassadors for the Canadian-owned betting company.
• Sportsnet CFL analyst and former Ticat, Eskimo & Roughrider D-lineman Eddie Steele joined the show from Edmonton for a Week 1 recap. He went deep on the Elks’ 59-15 loss at BC and said he hopes Chris Jones gives the players a good long look before cutting guys after a dismal showing. The 2015 Grey Cup champ doesn’t think the Lions are this good nor are the Elks this bad. Regarding Simoni Lawrence’s headshot on Cody Fajardo Saturday night, he feels Lawrence should get a fine but reasoned that “things happen fast” on the field of play.
• Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Duane Forde. Monday’s was Eddie Steele.
