We opened a brand new week with more big name sports guests on Episode #725 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Canada has qualified for the World Cup of Soccer!, 2) Sunday NHL leftovers, 3) Kerry Einarsson wins bronze at the World Womens Curling Championship, 4) The Blue Jays get clubbed 10-5 by the Phillies, 5) Henry Burris to the Jaguars & a change in NFL roster construction styles, and 6A) Junior hockey weekend, 6B) Sask Rush lose to Calgary, 6C) Canadian golfers’ weekends.
  • Sports broadcasting icon Dan O’Toole joined the show for a wide-ranging chat. He gave a life update after leaving TSN and promoted his popular new podcast BOOMSIES. Rod asked why Dan’s so popular in Saskatchewan and O’Toole figures it’s because he’s a pig farmer from Peterborough, ON. The pair told several hilarious stories from crossing paths over the years and vowed to do it again soon! “Toolsy” also credited Rod for paving the way for broadcasters in new media, allowing for freedom, individuality and FUN.
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer we were joined by Montreal Alouettes QB Trevor Harris. He approached the RP Show about coming on to debate CFL rule changes. He doesn’t favour a switch to four downs however he feels it would be cool to limit the number of punts per team, forcing more 3rd down gambles. Harris actually had a list of changes he’d like to see. Rod said the only change he’d like it is a Top 6 playoff format instead of the current West-East format. Harris also answered a ton of viewer questions.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Was the Chris Rock/Will Smith incident at the Oscars real or fake? At press time 70% of respondents voted for “real”.
  • Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Leo Rautins. Monday’s was Dan O’Toole.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Tuesday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive!
