We kicked off a brand new week with Canada’s best sports talk on Episode #896 of The RP Show on Game+ TV, YouTube and WQEE! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NHL leftovers included some wild wins by the Jets and the Wild, 2) Legendary Oilers head scout Barry Fraser passed away at age 82. Rod reflected on his legacy, 3) The list of NFL teams working out BC Lions QB Nathan Rourke in December are the Raiders, Colts, Ravens and Vikings. What should his expectations be?, 4) Week 13 NFL notes and the CFB Playoff is set – Georgia, Michigan, TCU & OSU, 5) The NLL season opened with six games including Saskatchewan routing Colorado 18-6 and the Georgia Swarm falling 16-11 to Rochester, 6) Connor Bedard tallies five points in a Regina Pats win at Edmonton.
  • Regarding Rourke, the panel debated what the Canadian QB should do if offered a contract by an NFL team? Rod and Moose agreed that he should SIGN!
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo joined the show from his Reno, NV home in a much-anticipated interview. The pending free agent said it was a tough season and admitted he suffered a Grade 2 MCL injury early in the season. In retrospect Cody feels he should’ve taken a couple games off to get it healed properly. Regarding his plans for 2023, Fajardo said he hasn’t spoken with the Riders since the end of the season but hopes that changes. He’s given a Wish List of teams to his agent and didn’t close the door on a return to Saskatchewan.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by NHL.com Winnipeg Jets reporter Darrin Bauming who recapped the Jets’ home loss to Columbus and comeback win over Anaheim this weekend. Bauming then went deep into Tuesday’s huge clash against the Florida Panthers in Paul Maurice’s return to Canada Life Centre. Darrin reflected on Maurice’s time in Winnipeg and said many Jets fans feel if the team had gotten past Vegas in the 2018 Conference Final, they’d have won the Stanley Cup under Maurice.
  • It was Day f of our NHL Reverse Retro Jersey Bracket. So far Vegas, L.A., NY Rangers, Florida have moved on. Monday’s Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Whose Reverse Retro Jersey is better – Dallas or Minnesota? At press time, Minnesota was leading.
  • Friday’s Rockstar of the Day was Derek Dennis. Monday’s was Cody Fajardo!
  • If you missed the show, you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+, on our YouTube Channel or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.
  • See you at 12 pm ET Tuesday on Game+, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio.

And boom goes the dynamite!! So Cody, you think you should have sat? No sympathy here!! I was at TD Atlantic, Cody obviously struggling, Covid kept him out of return Argos match, Dolegala played okay, I posted here that Cody should have SAT THE NEXT GAME because the one after was a bye!!! Would have had a MONTH OFF to actually heal!!! But no, what does Dickenson say?? “Oh, no way I can keep him off the field!!” NOT CODY’S DECISION!!!! Both Cody and Dickenson put their selfishness and wimpiness (Dickenson should have told him YOU SIT!!) ahead of the… Read more »
