MONDAY RUNDOWN: GREY CUP 109, NFL, NHL & MORE
We got back to business on Monday’s Episode #888 of The RP Show on Game+ TV and WQEE Radio. Read on for the rundown!:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup looking at these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Toronto Argonauts upset the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23 in the 109th Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium. We gave our thoughts, 2) The NHL Morning Skate included Evgeni Malkin’s 1,000th NHL game and the Florida Panthers’ three-game slide, 3) Week 11 in the NFL saw a big Chiefs comeback, and big wins by the Cowboys, Falcons and Titans, 4) Did you catch the Atlanta Hawks slipping past the Raptors 124-122 in OT on Saturday night?, 5) The NFL International Series concludes Monday night with the 49ers versus the Cardinals in Mexico City, 6) Other weekend sports including the Saskatchewan Huskies advancing to the Vanier Cup, Alphonso Davies gives himself the green light, and Dub Hub.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Did you enjoy the 109th Grey Cup? At press time 82% of respondents said yes. The panel gave their thoughts on the pregame and halftime shows, and said the Bombers have nothing to hang their heads about.
- Sirius/XM NHL Radio’s Scott Laughlin joined the show from Toronto and opened with his Grey Cup thoughts, recalling his first-ever live Grey Cup in 1978 in Toronto. Scott reported that if NHL teams are in a playoff spot at U.S. Thanksgiving (this Thursday), they’ll make the playoffs over 90% of the time. Regarding the Panthers’ slide, Scott feels they’re still getting used to each other and new head coach Paul Maurice, and will straighten things out. They’re out of a playoff spot as it stands today. Laughlin also feels the red-hot New Jersey Devils are the top story in the NHL so far this year.
- In Hour 2 we turned it over to the viewers, who had plenty of thoughts on the Grey Cup, Week 11 in the NFL and Monday’s busy slate of NHL games.
- Sirius/XM NFL Radio’s Zig Fracassi joined the show next and gave his opinion on the 109th Grey Cup. He feels too many costly mistakes cost Winnipeg in the end. Regarding a landing spot for free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr., Zig feels he’ll sign with the Dallas Cowboys. He also talked about the postgame comments of NY Jets QB Zach Wilson and said the sophomore from BYU has some growing up to do.
- Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Markcast podcast host Reid Johnson. Monday’s was Zig Fracassi!
