MONDAY RUNDOWN: MACOUN, FRACASSI AND MORE

We kicked off our spring residency at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino – Calgary’s Entertainment Destination – with Monday’s Episode #957 of The RP Show on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio! Read on for the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got it all going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Weekend NHL leftovers including Toronto’s wild 7-4 win over Edmonton, and Sunday’s 5-1 Calgary win over Ottawa, 2) Brad Gushue claims his fifth Brier title with a nail-biter over Matt Dunstone, 3) At the World Baseball Classic, Canada opened with an 18-8 rout of Great Britain, 4) Are you going to be into March Madness?, 5) XFL Week 4, and 6) Football buzz.
• Inspired by The Score, we asked viewers to describe their favourite NHL team’s season with a movie title! Answers included: Toronto Maple Leafs (Groundhog’s Day), Boston Bruins (Catch Me If You Can), Vancouver Canucks (Horrible Bosses) and Vegas Golden Knights (Honeymoon In Vegas). Rod said the title Dazed And Confused works for everything!
• 2-time Stanley Cup champion Jamie Macoun (Calgary, Detroit) joined us at Grey Eagle for an hour long visit. He recapped the Flames big win over Ottawa and said the diehards haven’t given up on the Flames making the playoffs. Regarding the city’s relationship with Darryl Sutter, despite the odd complaint, Jamie feels “95%-98%” of the city respects him and will end up saying they believed in him all along! The panel took questions from viewers and Macoun gave his predictions on a Stanley Cup Final (wouldn’t Edmonton/Toronto be wild?). He’s pulling for the Leafs as a Hamilton kid.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who’s the GOAT of Canadian mens curlers – Brad Gushue, Randy Ferby, The Richardsons or Kevin Martin? At press time, the leader was Gushue. Several write-in votes were cast for Russ Howard and Glenn Howard.
• In Hour 2 we were joined by Sirius/XM NFL Radio’s Zig Fracassi. He began discussing his beloved Boston Bruins dominance of the NHL this season, and then got into the NFL stories including Aaron Rodgers’ future (Zig feels he’ll leave Green Bay), the Jalen Ramsey-to-Miami trade and more.
• Friday’s Rockstar of the Day was Richie Leone. Monday’s was Jamie Macoun!
