MONDAY RUNDOWN: OVERREACTIONS AND CODY FAJARDO JOINS

We call it Overreaction Monday for a reason and the hosts debated six bold statements on Episode #1,129 of The RP Show.

1 – Bill Belichick Needs To Go!

2 – The Edmonton Oilers Have Turned The Corner (In the Key Auto Group daily poll, over 70% said no they haven’t)

3 – The Calgary Flames Will Miss The Playoffs

4 – The 2025 Vanier Cup In Regina Will Be The Best Ever!

5 – There’s Infinitely More Pressure On College Coaches Than CFL Coaches (This caused considerable debate among viewers)

6 – The Carolina Panthers Blew It Taking QB Bryce Young Over C.J. Stroud

There was breaking news as well, as the NFL’s Carolina Panthers fired head coach Frank Reich after a 1-10 start. NFL guest analysts Tori Gurley and Jim Lang broke the firing down, as well as all other Week 12 topics.

Grey Cup MVP Cody Fajardo – QB of the Montreal Alouettes – joined the show for a wide-ranging interview. He discussed the euphoric feeling of winning a CFL title as a starting quarterback, his stirring day-before speech to the team and what went into it, and had nothing but positive vibes for his time in Saskatchewan. “It’s unfortunate the way things ended but that’s just professional football,” Fajardo shrugged. “If you don’t win games, obviously there’s changes that gotta be made.”

And as was noted in the 10 Weekend Things column, the Roughriders coaching search has reportedly come down to co-ordinators Buck Pierce and Corey Mace. There was some discussion about that.

Texas A&M just paid the remaing $76m on Jimbo Fishers contract to not coach. Then hire some guy from Duke. It is sheer lunacy that boosters and athletic depth have over… Read more »

Congratulations Cody. Your name gets added to the long list of former Roughrider quarterbacks who’ve won a Grey Cup!
I can’t name all of them, I’ll leave that to John Lynch or Rob Vanstone.

You mean John Hufnagel, Tom Burgess, Kent Austin, Henry Burris and now Cody Fajardo?

The only people John Lynch or Rob Vanstone should be talking to is Psychiatrist and that’s a 2 minute discussion. It starts with the Dr telling each to take a red pill in the morning and a blue pill in the evening.
