MUAMBA ON HIS WAY TO SASK
Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.com reports Canadian linebacker Henoc Muamba has signed with the Roughriders.
Riders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones confirmed the news following Tuesday’s practice, however he said Muamba is on his way to Regina and hasn’t officially signed yet.
Muamba is a former #1 overall draft choice by Winnipeg and has played for the Blue Bombers and Alouettes in the CFL. He’s also spent time in the NFL with Indianapolis and Dallas.
Jones said Muamba will provide some much-needed ratio relief.
“It’s something we’ve struggled with all season long,” Jones reported. “Once our (Canadian offensive) guards got dinged up, we haven’t been able to get them back all year so we had to play an American at guard. That made us change our ratio defensively. Now it allows us to have some flexibility.”
The Riders will practice Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 12:10 before departing for Ottawa. Friday the 3-10 Riders battle the 6-6-1 RedBlacks at 5:00 pm on TSN and the 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network.

NEWS RELEASE
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced national linebacker Henoc Muamba has signed with the team. As per club policy, financial details of the contract were not released. Muamba (6’00 – 230) spent his first three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after originally being selected in the 1st round (1st overall) of the 2011 CFL Draft. He was named a CFL All-Star after racking up 106 defensive tackles during the 2013 season. Muamba signed with the Indianapolis Colts in February, 2014 where he went on to play 13 regular season games and the AFC Championship game. The St. Francis Xavier product returned to the CFL in October, 2015 signing with the Montreal Alouettes. He played the final four regular season games for Als picking up 14 defensive tackles. The 27-year-old Muamba most recently attended 2016 training camp with the Dallas Cowboys where he played three preseason games. Through parts of four CFL seasons, Muamba has totaled 185 defensive tackles, 54 special teams tackles, 16 tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks in 51 regular season games.
Wow, good signing!
Patrick
Not signed yet, read the article!
With the recent upgrades on defense, Jones will finally be able to play the defense he has wanted to play all season. If Henoc is signed for a couple of yrs, next years Riders team will be much improved over the 2016 version.
Fuller, Jefferson, Muamba all good signings. Get Darian signed and the future for the Riders is looking much brighter. Kudos to management for the job they've been doing in what has turned out to be a very difficult year! Keep the good news coming! Also, great to hear Brendan LaBatte is on the mend.
Holy crap. I hope this is true.

While our current linebacking corps is doing okay (not great)
We haven't had a LB anyone worried about since Rey Williams. Muamba would change that.
Hey Roddy, just a helpful suggestion- Tell your co-host to buy his next Jockeys two sizes larger, then he'd drop an octave and we'd be spared his girly cackle. The 306 would be indebted. Good show, get well.
2017! 2017! We are going to kick some butt in 2017!
Oh please sign this guy!
Meh. This guy wont put out our tire fire!!!
Riders better load up on some Pork Chops for this Baby , I would hate to be around him if he gets Hungry. Another Great Signing by Mr. Jones. Go Riders !
Good signing but to say your kicking butt next year is far fetched for now…looks good on paper but that does not win you grey cups…prove it on the field, so until then quit yapping.
Last Anon…. Come on get a life, the guy was just expressing himself by saying kicking butt next year. You must be a Bomber Fan and they really seem to be the ones that are "Yapping" lately as they keep losing . Your right Anon…"Kick Butt Next Year" That's what the Riders are all about. Go Riders.
Many of our injuries happened in the B.C. game earlier this season and in my opinion it looked like leg whip Wally was behind it all.
Now we got most of our guys back and I see the winning ways continuing. Can't wait for the next game against leg whip Wally, Jones won't forget what happened.
