Good morning and welcome to Week 2 in the NFL!

Yes, I know it started Thursday night with a surprisingly entertaining game that saw Washington beat the New York Giants on a last-second field goal. But, these weekly picks come every Friday so here we are.

I said on Thursday’s show that regardless of the outcome in TNF we would be talking about one team’s QB situation and wonder what needs to be done. Both Taylor Heinicke and Daniel Jones played well and  quieted the critics. My one takeaway? Keep the name Football Team, I love it!

Let’s move on.

LA Rams (1-0, -3.5) @ Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

Everyone across the NFL is so so happy for Matthew Stafford to be in LA and working with Sean McVay. Well, their debut was special. The Rams’ QB threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns to lead LA over Chicago in primetime. On the other side, I actually like what Carson Wentz showed in a losing effort in week one. The Colts’ QB threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss to Seattle. The Colts are a good football team but will need Wentz to get them over the hump. The Rams are climbing and I think they’ll be even better this week.

I’m taking the Rams -3.5.

New Orleans Saints (1-0, -3.5) @ Carolina Panthers (1-0)

I am stunned that the Saints are only favoured by 3.5. I honestly think the Saints are one of the NFL’s best and Jameis Winston is more than capable of leading them deep in the playoffs. Sam Darnold looks like he can get his career back on track in Carolina and was an impressive 24 of 35 for 279 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ week one win. Christian McCaffrey appears to be healthy and ready to roll but I don’t think they have enough to get the upset.

I’ve got New Orleans -3.5.

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0, -12.5)

Is this low hanging fruit? Maybe.

Look, 12 and-a-half points is a lot for any team no matter how good you are or how bad your opponent is. That said, the Bucs weren’t perfect against Dallas and that means they will look to be even better this week. Rob Gronkowski had eight catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Tom Brady threw the ball 50 times for 379 yards and four touchdowns. Antonio Brown had 121 yards receiving and a touchdown. What year is it? I’m not even talking about Atlanta!

I’m taking Tampa Bay no matter what the spread is!

Enjoy the weekend!
