NISTOR LIFTS RED SOX TO 22ND WIN

Regina Manager Mitch MacDonald handed the ball to local product Chase Nistor and he did not disappoint.

Nistor earned his first win of the year defeating Yorkton 12-4 Friday evening. The sophomore from Taft Community College threw six very productive innings giving up seven hits, one walk and three runs. He also struck out five Cardinal batters.

The combination of Kendal Daniels, Ruddy Estrada and Justin Magstadt protected the Regina lead and preserved the Red Sox 22nd win of the year.

Bryson Spagnuolo started for Yorkton. He suffered his first loss of the season and is now 3-1.

Phil Langlois had four hits while Broderick Rodocker chipped in with three hits. Aden Campbell added his 10th double and four RBI in the Red Sox win.

For Yorkton, Kevin Connolly, Parker Smejkal and Hank Forrest all had a pair of hits for the Cardinals.

With the win Regina now sits in second place in the Eastern Division, one game back of Swift Current. At 9-25, Yorkton’s playoff chances are fading as they are 14 games behind the division leading 57’s.
