O’DAY SAYS DURANT IS A-OK

Saskatchewan Roughriders Assistant GM Jeremy O’Day is refuting a TSN report that quarterback Darian Durant is playing with broken ribs.  Speaking on 620 CKRM’s SportsCage on Monday, O’Day said a report during TSN’s telecast of Saturday’s Saskatchewan-BC game that Durant has broken ribs is false.

“That would be news to me if Darian had a broken rib,” O’Day offered.  “Obviously at this time of year everyone’s going to be dinged up but Darian doesn’t have any broken ribs.”

After Saturday’s game Rider head coach Corey Chamblin also disputed the report, saying he wouldn’t play Durant with such an injury.  Chamblin also noted Durant’s play on the field indicates he has no such wound.  O’Day agreed.

“He obviously is a very tough quarterback that has played through some injuries in the past, as well as some this year,” O’Day concluded.  “But I don’t think he has a broken rib, no.”

The Roughriders will practice indoors at the Credit Union Eventplex at Evraz Place on Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:30 am before returning to Mosaic Stadium for Thursday’s workout.  Saturday the Riders visit the Calgary Stampeders at 5:00 pm on TSN and the CKRM Rider Radio Network.

Matt Dunigan totally F@cked himself. How is any player going to trust anything they say to him now?

These former players and now broadcasters get told things and hear things when they are in the locker room that they know they shouldn't repeat. Whether it's from the player directly or from a teammate, doesn't matter.

This is exactly the same as that d-bag reporter that tweeted out what Joe Thornton said in the locker room a couple weeks ago.

Reporters/broadcasters aren't stupid, … they know exactly what they can report and what they can't report/repeat.

Well said Paco. What's said in the dressing room should stay there. It's a sanctuary for the players and the media are only priveaged to be allowed there.

Dunnigan certainly didn't do himself any favors by stating this on a national broadcast, be it truthful or not…

Dunnigan was looking for style points during his telecast. He is clearly a DD fan and was most certainly trying to pump DD's tires, but didn't help himself by making stuff up or commenting on unsubstantiated comments. I think the bigger joke is Miller who clearly doesn't like the Riders, and probably doesn't like football as much as hockey. Put the two together and I rather watch in silence then listen to their dribble.

We'll see. It'll all come out in the wash after the Riders last game whether it be the Grey Cup or not. When Vanstone asked DD he replied, "No comment"

Let's give Dunnigan a break, the man has suffered plenty of head shots and concussions and he is who he is… Darian Durant is an awesome warrior himself! ——-And to all the Durant haters (there are actually very few), always keep in mind that Darian Durant would have been known as a two time Grey Cup champion had it not been for circumstances relatively outside of his control during those two games. He put the Riders in winning positions both times. However people seem to forget this and, instead, look at him like he is 'developing' or that 'maybe' he… Read more »
